Everything should be in proportion to your scale, be it Small, Average or Tall. It’s all about maximising your assets and minimising your liabilities!

What to look for when selecting accessories for the Petite (Small) lady:
Petite women should wear one colour as often as possible.

  • Hats & Fascinators – Small to Medium in size
  • Shawl/Shrug – Use prints in moderation; Plain styles look best
  • Neckpiece – Depends on what type of neck you have and on what type of neckline you are wearing:
Long Necks: Choker style neckpieces/High neckpieces; Scarves/Cravat style scarves look terrific; High, stand-up collars
Short Necks: Long neckpieces; Pendant neckpieces work well: Open, Boat or V-necks
Thick Necks: Long neckpieces; Narrow V-necks; avoid short neckpieces and rounded necklines
  • Earrings – Small to medium size
  • Belt – Narrow width
  • Bag – Small to medium in size

What to look for when selecting accessories for the Average lady:
Same as above but medium in scale.

What to look for when selecting accessories for the Tall Lady:
Same as above but large scale.

Jackets
The average length in jackets is wrist length. If you’re long-waisted, it’s wrist length or above to lengthen legs and to shorten the body. If you’re short-waisted, it’s wrist length or below to lengthen the body. For the large busted lady - single breasted jackets; avoid lapels, pocket detail; avoid collar where possible For the small busted lady – look for as much detail on jacket where possible; look for double breasted

Skirts
For the short-waisted woman, wear skirts knee length or below.
For the long-waisted woman, wear skirts knee length or above.

Trousers
Avoid turn-ups if you are a petite lady.
High-waisted trousers for the long-waisted lady.
Hipsters for the short-waisted lady.

Shoes
The taller you are, the higher the heel.
The smaller you are, the lower the heel.
The long foot can have straps, buckles, bows.
The shorter foot can wear lower cut front.

Swim-Suit
Short legs – high cut
Long legs – great in bikinis

Once you understand your colours and style, you’ll have far less in your wardrobe but far more to wear!
